The Croydon Park Rangers were founded in June 2025 by Jason Bateman, in response to demand in the inner western suburbs of Sydney for basketball skills training in an engaging and fun way, where kids can get fit, and develop their ball skills at the same time, and provide opportunities to compete in a competition teams as they develop. The group started with structured skills training for small groups, open to complete beginners, and expanded to operating two basketball teams competing in the Inner City Basketball league for girls and boys in the 6-12 year old age groups.

Jason was fortunate to play representative basketball at junior and youth level for various teams in Victoria, including the Melbourne Tigers (now Melbourne United). He had the honor of being coached by an NBA coach (Brett Brown - Philadelphia 76ers), and while having played at an elite level, also has significant coaching experience with juniors and is an excellent communicator. Jason is a passionate coach and keeps his sessions fun through gamified training. 

The club is supported by our sister club (innercitytigers.com) which has been operating for 2 years.
